Our Approach

Encounters with armadillos are not uncommon across the once-rural North Dallas landscape. At Critter Stop, we specialize in humane “Outside Live Trapping” services to safely remove these animals from residential and commercial properties, safely relocating them in accordance with state and local laws.

Strategic Placement & Baiting

We bait and set two live traps on the customer’s property in the areas we believe will give us the highest probability of capturing the animal(s). This is usually near a den or food source.

Armadillo Live Trapping

Due to their unique diet, armadillos cannot be lured into a trap using bait very effectively. However, they have another characteristic that helps in trapping - they have poor eyesight. As a result, they often follow structures when traveling (e.g. fences, brick walls, etc.). This allows us to install long, wooden boards that lead into a trap, like a funnel. When the armadillos hit the board, they often keep following it, leading them into the trap.

Armadillo Relocation

We require customers to check their traps at least once every 24 hours. Once they notice an animal is trapped, they notify us, and we dispatch a technician to relocate the animal.
